Using Committed Inventory

In the system, three transactions commit inventory:

Committed inventory can never be used for any other purpose. completed work orders, shipping orders, and completing planned transfers remove the commitment. Shipped and invoiced sales orders will appear on the inquiry until the item is costed in Cost of Goods Sold. Items will remain on the committed inventory inquiry for all lots on inventory hold until the hold is released and the items are costed.

Both the Regular (unlotted) Inventory and Lotted Inventory options function similarly, with the exception that the Lotted Inventory report will also show the location ID, lot number, and slot of the items if the location is slotted.

Note: Both the Regular and Lotted Inventory inquiries show a "lots" column. Users should not be confused by the lot numbers the system assigns to unlotted products. The system actually generates an internal lot number for ALL products – it is just not used or displayed for non-lotted products. It is used for item valuation purposes only.
